A Vero Software Case Study
Percival Scientific, a 125-year-old maker of standard and custom environmental-control chambers for research and industry, faced inefficiencies from small-batch, highly customized sheet‑metal work. Their previous process relied on a shear and turret press with heavy paperwork, manual nesting and part tracking, frequent data‑entry errors and about $40,000 a year in scrap.
After installing a Mazak laser and the Radan CAD/CAM system (integrated with SOLIDWORKS and a customized ERP), Percival automated nesting, batch processing and automatic etching of part/job numbers, and enabled auto-creation of files for parts. The change cut paperwork and programming time dramatically (from half a week for two programmers to about an hour), reduced scrap, standardized processes and greatly increased overall efficiency.
