A Vero Software Case Study
Irish Pressings, founded in 2005 by brothers Declan and Brendan Ward in Gweedore, Co. Donegal, manufactures metal stamped components, press tools and prototypes for automotive clients such as Ford, GM, Toyota and BMW. Facing intense competition from Asian and Eastern European suppliers, they needed to shorten project lifecycles and automate repetitive design tasks without sacrificing quality—their upgraded toolroom was ready but the design office and existing generic CAD/CAM systems could not keep pace.
They implemented Vero Software’s VISI Progress and VISI Machining to provide a dedicated, single‑environment workflow for die design, CAD detailing and CAM manufacture, including machining feature recognition for automatic plate machining. The change cut CAM programming time by over 60% and halved average tool production lifecycle (large dies dropped from 8–10 weeks to under 4 weeks; machining from 6–8 weeks to under 2 weeks), enabled delivery of 3D models instead of detailed drawings, and supported increased capacity and new hires.
