A Vero Software Case Study
Future Advanced Manufacture (Future AM) is a UK-based high-precision machining and prototype specialist serving aerospace and other demanding industries, holding AS9100 certification. They were contracted to produce a mating pair of complex aerodynamic sealing components for a turbine blade featuring a multi-axis dovetail groove, but the supplied SolidWorks model contained corrupt surfaces and unmachinable steps that needed substantial CAD rework and specialist support.
Working with Vero and its 5-axis support engineers, Future AM imported the SolidWorks file into VISI, deconstructed and re-modelled the groove blends to suit simultaneous 5-axis dovetail machining, added machining extensions and fixturing surfaces, then machined the PTFE masters on a Bridgeport VMC with a Nikken tilting rotary table. The project delivered acceptable sealing geometry and tight tolerances, and—supported by installed Renishaw REVO/MODUS metrology—strengthened Future AM’s integrated CAD/CAM and inspection capabilities, helping secure high-spec contracts and maintain a competitive aerospace position.
