Formtech GmbH - Customer Case Study

Formtech GmbH, a Bavarian high‑tech mould and toolmaker serving Formula 1 teams and automotive OEMs, faced the challenge of economically machining Titanium (Ti6Al4V) and other hard‑to‑cut materials to extremely tight tolerances across a mixed fleet of 17 CNC centres. The company needed consistent data flow from 3D CAD and tool design through to CAM, plus improved tool life and machining speed to meet demanding precision and delivery requirements.

Formtech standardized on Vero’s VISI suite (Machining, Modelling, Analysis and PEPS‑Wire), implemented adaptive trochoidal toolpaths and a shop‑floor CAM workflow with operators programming at six adjacent workstations. The result was higher machining speeds, reduced tool wear and vibration, reliable CAD–CAM interoperability and economical Titanium milling at accuracies down to 0.01 mm—enabling continued supply to F1 teams and major automotive clients.
