A Vero Software Case Study
Tooltech is a Devon-based manufacturer of wax injection and mould tooling for the investment casting market, serving sectors such as power generation and aerospace. Facing growing customer demand and complex parts that required multiple long setups on 3-axis machines, the company struggled with long lead times, difficult undercuts and deep pockets, and heavy manual fixturing that forced extended working hours.
Tooltech invested in a Hedelius 5-axis machining centre and Edgecam’s 5-axis CAM (with a bespoke post-processor) to program and produce tooling directly from customer models. The change cut cycle times dramatically (examples include a job reduced from two days to 25 minutes and a ten-setup tool from three weeks to one week with three setups), improved accuracy and surface finish, extended tool life, reduced fixturing and setups, and increased throughput and responsiveness to customers.
