A Vero Software Case Study
Engineering Solutions & Supply, a long-established Newbury engineering subcontractor serving customers from local industry to the European Space Agency, was commissioned to produce complex feed-scroll kits for a food-filling line (feed scrolls, base plates, clamps, star heels and centre guides). Although they invested in a DMC DM50V machining centre with a Samchully fourth axis, their existing CAM software could not generate the continuous, variable‑pitch toolpaths required—forcing segmented operations, causing dig‑ins and poor surface finish.
They switched to Edgecam, whose logical interface and reusable PCI cycle files delivered continuous, accurate toolpaths and a consistently excellent finish. Edgecam’s Waveform Roughing cut roughing cycle times by about 20% and in some cases doubled tool life, programming times are now 30–45 minutes, and the company can produce around 100 scroll variants reliably. The result: lower tooling costs, winable long-term food-industry contracts and the ability to offer solutions at roughly half the cost of the original conveyor manufacturers.
