A Vero Software Case Study
Delta Tooling (Horsham) Ltd, a UK precision machining specialist, was asked by prosthetics maker RSLSteeper to manufacture critical components for the bebionic3 myoelectric hand. The parts—including an aluminium knuckle, a plastic sub‑section and a complex thumb bracket—were too intricate for the original mould-and-finish approach and required tighter tolerances, consistent quality and fewer set‑ups to meet production and functional needs.
Delta invested in an AgieCharmilles Mikron UCP 800 Duro and upgraded to VISI 5‑axis Machining (VISI 20), using advanced CAD import/checks, collision control, kinematic simulation and the Dynamic Incremental Stock feature to create efficient toolpaths. The move to full 5‑axis machining produced better surface finishes with shorter tooling, reduced cycle times and fewer set‑ups, enabling cost‑effective, near‑continuous production runs, improved competitiveness and reliable supply for the bebionic3 launch.
