A Vero Software Case Study
Moody Decking and Services is the UK specialist that manufactures teak decks with full‑depth seams for boats and yachts, supplying high‑end yards and custom one‑offs. Faced with a time‑critical, large‑scale job (a 100‑ft yacht) and growing demand, the company needed a faster, more accurate way to digitise complex deck shapes and move from hand tooling to CNC production — a first‑time, sink‑or‑swim integration of a digital scanner with CAD/CAM software.
They implemented a workflow from scanner → Rhino → Alphacam, using Alphacam post‑processing to drive CNC routers and custom macros to prepare plank layouts and toolpaths. The result: production times fell dramatically (projects that once took ~12 weeks now take under two weeks, and large‑boat jobs have halved), while accuracy, repeatability and capacity increased, floor‑space needs dropped, and long‑term template storage was replaced by reusable NC programs for easy future replacements.
