A Vero Software Case Study
Specialist Joinery Group, a Northern Ireland–based bespoke joinery firm with about 100 staff, produces fitted furniture and architectural joinery for customers across the UK and Ireland. They faced a production bottleneck machining complex curved components—such as the Lakeside Shopping Centre seating pods—because these parts are time-consuming, often requiring multiple set-ups or subcontracting, which threatened competitiveness.
By using Alphacam to program 5‑axis toolpaths for their Homag router (and to drive edging and multi-bore machines), Specialist Joinery can cut most curved components in a single set-up, saving around three times the machining time, reducing labour and avoiding subcontracting. The system also improves tolerances and material utilisation through nesting, helping them win high‑profile contracts (e.g., The Guildhall) and support recent expansion.
