A Vero Software Case Study
Audi’s in‑house toolmaking competence centre (KCU) faced the common automotive challenge of single‑part machining: frequent product changes requiring high flexibility, reliable CAM programming and faster, repeatable pre‑finishing for large press tools. Existing CAM systems struggled to reproduce new high‑feed cutter geometries, producing undefined allowances that jeopardised downstream finishing and productivity.
Working with Vero, Audi helped develop a new WorkNC high‑feed strategy that models irregular cutter geometries and prevents undefined allowances, while keeping programming fast and intuitive. The result: pre‑finishing times cut by up to 30% (e.g., an outer door panel from 3h15 to 1h42 with no insert changes), tool life roughly tripled, much higher metal removal rates and increased automation and reliability across single‑part production.
