Alphacam Slashes Allwood Architectural Joinery’s Manufacturing Process for CNC, From a Day to an Hour

Allwood Architectural Joinery is a family‑run architectural joinery business based in Portlaoise, Ireland. Originally focused on hotel and bar fit‑outs, the company had to diversify during the recession and faced the challenge of producing complex components and speeding up manual CNC programming and nesting to remain competitive and win commercial clients.

By adopting Alphacam to drive both their 5‑axis Maka and 3‑axis Biesse machines and using Alphacam’s Automation Manager with a SketchUp→DXF workflow, Allwood automated nesting, drilling rules, labelling and post‑processing. The result: production that once took a full day to break down now takes as little as 30–60 minutes, 30 sheets with up to 200 nested components can be delivered to the machine in ten minutes, and the company has scaled into larger commercial projects for clients such as Google, Twitter and Zendesk.
