Alphacam Helps CNC World Diversify into Wood Cutting

CNC World, the UK distributor of MultiCam 3- and 5-axis routers, faced a challenge with underused demo equipment and frequent customer requests for urgent or non-standard cutting jobs that their clients couldn’t handle in-house. Customers were subcontracting work or seeking recommendations when their shop floors were at capacity or when different materials were required.

CNC World turned its idle Series 1000 demo router into a paid cutting service, driven by Alphacam (and Radan for metal), and hired an experienced Alphacam programmer to run client jobs sent as files. The service reduced waste and cycle times, extended the company’s ability to cut wood, plastic or metal on demand, helped a client win a major contract and even led to a new machine sale.
