Alphacam Accuracy Helps Swiss Watches Keep Perfect Time

Bumotec, a Swiss machine-tool manufacturer, builds highly customised multi-axis turning/milling machines for precision watchmaking, where parts range from 0.15mm to 50mm and tolerances are as tight as ~4 microns. The challenge was to deliver each machine ready to produce complex, tiny components reliably and quickly on installation, while avoiding costly crashes and meeting individual customer processes across up to 38 axes.

Bumotec partnered with Alphacam and reseller MW Programmation to pre-load optimised CNC programs, bespoke post processors and specialist macros (e.g., perlage, serial numbering, palpage, diamond settings), plus tailored training and support. The result: machines leave the factory trialled and production-ready, cycle times reduced (aided by Alphacam’s Waveform 3D Roughing), greater repeatability and fewer setup issues, enabling Bumotec to sell a complete production engineering solution trusted by leading Swiss watchmakers.
