One School District's Security and Network Transformation with CIT

South Washington County Schools, a large Minnesota district serving 19,000 students, needed to replace an aging, hard-drive-based security camera system that was causing frequent failures, downtime, and maintenance headaches. The district also had to manage separate camera and data networks, adding complexity for a small IT and safety team. To modernize security and operations, they turned to Verkada, working with CIT and using Verkada’s cloud-based cameras and intercoms.

Verkada deployed more than 1,800 cameras and 60 intercoms on a single, bandwidth-efficient platform, along with SCIM-based user provisioning tied to Active Directory. This simplified network management, shut down a full rack and a half of servers to save energy, and improved usability and image quality. South Washington County Schools also cut investigation time by 50% with Verkada’s search tools and gained faster, more secure footage sharing and better intercom workflows.
