How Trinity College Cambridge Streamlined Security Operations

Trinity College Cambridge, a historic constituent college of the University of Cambridge, needed a more modern way to manage safety across its 36-acre estate and multiple properties. Its legacy on-premises CCTV system was difficult and time-consuming to use, especially when retrieving and sharing footage, and it struggled to keep pace with the College’s growing security and operational needs. Trinity College Cambridge chose Verkada’s cloud-managed video, access control, and intercom platform to support campus-wide safety and streamline day-to-day operations.

Verkada replaced legacy cameras and added intercom and access control at key buildings, giving staff a unified platform for remote monitoring, door control, and AI-powered video search. The result was faster investigations that dropped from hours to minutes, improved guard efficiency through motion-based alerts and remote guarding, and better coordination across video, access, and intercom events. Trinity College Cambridge also retired NVR/DVR hardware, reducing maintenance and freeing data-centre space, while strengthening compliance and protection for its heritage assets.
