A Verkada Case Study
The City of Calera, Alabama, worked with Verkada to address a long-running public safety challenge: trains frequently blocked key railroad crossings, delaying emergency responders, disrupting commutes, and creating visibility problems for city staff and residents. Calera needed a way to see crossing status in real time so fire and police crews could make faster decisions before leaving the station.
Verkada deployed a citywide camera solution with on-building cameras, off-grid LTE and solar-powered cameras, Command access, mobile viewing, and a Viewing Station in the firehouse. With live feeds available to first responders and through the MyCalera app, Calera saved critical minutes on emergency responses and improved public access to traffic information; over 9,000 residents used the live camera portal within the first two months.
