City of Havre de Grace struggled with a legacy multi-drive NVR surveillance system that required per‑NVR user accounts, was prone to drive failures (over a dozen failures experienced), and forced reduced image quality or motion-only recording to conserve storage. To modernize surveillance across its roughly 60‑camera deployment, the city evaluated and selected Verkada’s security camera platform.

Verkada deployed hybrid cloud cameras with onboard SSDs and AWS cloud backup, centralized user management through Command, a Viewing Station in the Police Department (streaming up to 36 feeds), automatic OTA updates, and 24/7 live chat support. The Verkada solution removed the single point of failure from NVRs, prevented large-scale footage loss, simplified provisioning, ensured continuous recording and faster incident monitoring, and positions the City of Havre de Grace to expand with another planned 60 cameras.
