A Verkada Case Study
Iredell-Statesville Schools, one of North Carolina’s largest school districts, needed to replace a fragmented and outdated security environment across 41 buildings serving more than 20,000 students. With limited IT staff and unreliable legacy systems, the district struggled with gaps in video coverage, slow incident response, and too much time spent maintaining multiple disconnected tools. Verkada helped the district bring cameras, access control, alarms, intercoms, air quality sensors, and guest management into a single cloud-managed platform.
With Verkada, Iredell-Statesville Schools improved safety operations and response times: door-related issues that once took up to one to two hours to resolve now take about 10 minutes, and vape alerts dropped by 80% after air quality sensors were added. The district also streamlined lockdowns, sped up investigations, improved visitor screening, and reduced camera installation time from about 90 minutes to 30 minutes per camera. Verkada’s unified system also helped lower long-term costs through easier management, updates, and reduced maintenance on legacy equipment.
