How an NHS Foundation Trust Enhanced Hospital Security

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH), an NHS foundation trust in Liverpool, needed to replace a legacy CCTV environment made up of mixed coaxial and IP systems that were unreliable, costly to maintain, and dependent on DVRs, UPS units, and frequent repairs. The hospital worked with Verkada to modernize its physical security infrastructure using cloud-managed video security cameras and the Command platform.

Verkada deployed a hybrid cloud solution that was simple to install and manage, requiring only a single PoE cable per camera and no ongoing maintenance for the old hardware. The new system gave LHCH centralized access to live and archived footage, faster incident response, built-in privacy controls like Face Blur, and scalable coverage across the site, while eliminating patching and external hardware costs through automatic updates and a 10-year warranty.
