The London Clinic, one of the UK’s largest independent charitable hospitals, needed to modernize an aging CCTV estate that was expensive to maintain and hard to use. With nearly 400 cameras across clinical and non-clinical sites and six DVRs nearing replacement at roughly £6–8K each, General Manager of Security Operations Lee Humphries evaluated cloud-based options and chose Verkada’s hybrid cloud cameras and Command platform to deliver intuitive, app-based surveillance and simplified management.

Verkada deployed an initial rollout replacing 75 cameras and enabled remote, real-time monitoring, permissioned access for security teams, and rapid feature updates for COVID-19 needs (Motion Plotting, Crowd Notifications, Face Search) to support contact tracing. The result: faster incident resolution (including confirming a midnight incident from a phone), avoided DVR replacement costs (≈£36–48K), easier administration with free user seats and site clustering, and a scalable path to continue upgrading CCTV across other sites using Verkada.
