How a Real Estate Company Secures Remote Properties with Hybrid Cloud Surveillance

DeMatei & Co., Inc., a 100-year-old real estate investment and development firm, needed to improve security and after-hours visibility at a Stockton shopping center while lowering installation, hardware, and bandwidth costs. After reviewing several bids — including a costly NVR proposal — DeMatei & Co. selected Verkada’s hybrid cloud surveillance (Verkada cameras and the Command platform) as the most advanced, easy-to-deploy, and cost-effective solution.

Verkada implemented PoE 4K cameras with IR and time-based motion alerts, plus the cloud-based Command software for remote access by default, eliminating NVRs and extensive hardware. The two-line pricing (cameras + Command) and minimal hardware reduced deployment and maintenance costs to roughly one-third of the NVR option, cut steady-state uplink to about 20 kbps per camera (1 Mbps during HD viewing), provided watermarked, court‑ready footage, and delivered faster deployments and scalable monitoring that DeMatei & Co. is expanding to other properties.
