A Verkada Case Study
Invercargill Airport, a regional hub in New Zealand, needed to replace an aging surveillance system that was difficult to access, expensive to expand, and unreliable for critical incidents. The airport also lacked practical connectivity for remote infrastructure like its pump house, making storm-time monitoring cumbersome and staff-intensive. Verkada’s cameras, connectivity, and Command platform were chosen to modernize the airport’s security operations.
Verkada implemented a flexible, cloud-managed security system with cameras across the terminal, exterior, airside areas, control tower, and a cellular-connected setup for the pump house. The airport gained remote access from mobile devices, eliminated contractor dependency for routine changes, and removed the old “blocks of 16” expansion limit. The impact included multiple hours saved during storm monitoring, zero contractor visits for routine management and permissions, and 100% mobile access for key personnel, while also improving investigations and enabling future growth.
