How a hospital uses Verkada products to support a healthier and safer environment

Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, the sole healthcare provider for more than 125,000 people in Central Washington’s Yakima Valley, needed to replace aging DVR-based security systems that delivered poor image quality, unreliable storage, and no easy way to retain or share footage. The hospital was looking for a hybrid cloud camera solution with high-resolution video, 30-day storage, and strong support for security and investigations, and chose Verkada cameras and environmental sensors.

Verkada implemented 185 cameras across seven locations, along with VX52 viewing stations and SV11 Environmental Sensors, giving Yakima Valley Memorial better visibility into security incidents, pharmacy operations, and air quality. With Verkada, staff can quickly share video, identify people, vehicles, and license plates, monitor pharmacy waiting areas, and respond to poor indoor air conditions with data-backed action. The result was a major improvement over the old DVR setup, with easier deployment, better support for staff, and measurable operational benefits across the hospital.
