Pikes Peak Library District, a Colorado library system serving over 700,000 residents across El Paso County, needed a better way to protect 18 buildings and manage safety concerns ranging from after-hours access to methamphetamine contamination risks in restrooms. The district also wanted to reduce dependence on manual security processes, cut costs tied to alarm service and officer overtime, and improve visibility across its many campuses.
Using Verkada’s cloud-based physical security platform, Pikes Peak Library District deployed cameras, access control, intercom, alarms, air quality sensors, panic buttons, and mobile camera systems, all managed from one centralized SOC. Verkada helped the district save an estimated $30,000 annually in officer overtime and mileage plus $10,000 in alarm service calls, while integrating 800+ doors and simplifying incident response, remote monitoring, and staff safety.
