El Centro Regional Medical Center, a 165‑bed acute‑care hospital that operates nine facilities and treats 10,000+ patients a year, struggled with limited visibility across sites, unreliable legacy DVRs, manual network configurations, and concerns about bandwidth when evaluating cloud‑based cameras. Verkada deployed nearly 200 plug‑and‑play PoE cameras and a cloud platform that centralizes feeds, stores footage on‑device, and adds features like People Analytics and timelapse thumbnails—letting staff find incidents in seconds and play back HD video. The rollout removed manual IP management, maintained network performance (≈20 kbps per camera, enabling 100+ cameras on ~2 Mbps), improved real‑time response and evidence quality over legacy DVRs, and will expand with another 100 cameras planned for the main hospital.
