The City of Parkersburg, a West Virginia municipality of about 35,000 residents, faced rising crime and a need for a scalable, easy-to-manage surveillance solution to support law enforcement and city operations. To address that challenge they chose Verkada, deploying Verkada cameras and the Command hybrid cloud platform to give the police, IT staff, and city leaders a modern, mobile surveillance system.

Verkada implemented a lightweight hybrid-cloud camera system that requires only PoE power and no traditional DVR/NVR, enabling rapid deployment (about 30 minutes per camera) and operational flexibility (up to 10 cameras on a single cellular modem). With 24/7 remote access via Command and cloud storage, the solution sped investigations, reduced on-site storage needs, and—by the city’s account—“jumped 10 years ahead” in capability, becoming a shared tool used across law enforcement, local government, and IT.
