A Verkada Case Study
Baden Academy Charter School, a Title I public charter school near Pittsburgh, needed better visibility into visitors and a simpler way to access, share, and retain video to improve campus safety. Director of Technology Mathew Davis reviewed traditional surveillance options but lacked time and resources to manage NVRs, servers, VPNs or risky port‑forwarding, and sought an easy-to-install, easy-to-manage solution that would work with the school’s existing IT infrastructure. Verkada was selected after a demo.
Verkada deployed PoE cameras that required no additional servers or storage and eliminated port‑forwarding and VPN configuration, letting administrators be provisioned quickly by whitelisting a few domains. The solution reduced deployment time, saved about 20 hours per month in management, was 30% less expensive, and deployed 4x faster, while lowering network risk — results Mathew and the school leadership praised and plan to expand with more Verkada cameras.
