A Verizon Connect Case Study
United Subcontractors Inc. (USI), a St. Paul–based construction services firm with 1,700 employees and a 979‑vehicle fleet, needed GPS vehicle tracking as part of a companywide move to digitize operations and gain near‑real‑time locations, optimized routes and better job scheduling. After evaluating providers, USI selected Verizon Connect’s vehicle‑tracking software for its flexibility and ability to integrate with existing systems.
Verizon Connect integrated with USI’s WEX fuel‑card data and ARI fleet management to provide daily odometer readings, geofencing, alerts and route optimization, enabling better fleet allocation and scheduling. As a result, USI estimates normalized fuel costs are down 10% (after only a third of the fleet), maintenance expenses are down 10–15%, preventative‑maintenance compliance rose from ~70% to 90%, and overall response times, visibility and employee efficiency have measurably improved.
