Mason County Road Commission boosts its snow removal efficiency

Mason County Road Commission, which maintains 237 miles of county roads and 716 miles of local roads in Western Michigan, needed a better way to track snowplows and keep residents informed during harsh winter storms. The team often worked in areas with little or no cell phone or radio coverage, making it difficult to locate drivers, verify service, and respond to complaints about road conditions or property damage. Verizon Connect helped them address these challenges with fleet visibility and snow-removal management tools.

Using Verizon Connect Reveal, a near-real-time fleet management platform, integrated with SnowPaths, Mason County Road Commission gained live vehicle tracking, route and plowing status dashboards, and a public portal showing which roads had been plowed in the last two to four hours, four to six hours, or not at all. The solution improved dispatching, driver safety, and communication with residents, while also providing proof of service and better visibility across the fleet. Verizon Connect’s tools helped the commission answer calls faster, locate stranded drivers, and keep the public updated throughout snow events.
