Lampson International Tracks Heavy Equipment With Gps Solution

Lampson International, a global renter of cranes and heavy lift equipment, needed reliable location and operational data to improve maintenance, logistics and billing for assets that often work in very remote areas. After losing machine data when cellular coverage was unavailable and relying on manual operator logs, Lampson turned to Verizon Connect’s GPS/satellite-based tracking solution to gain continuous visibility and record hours of usage.

Verizon Connect deployed satellite-capable GPS units, customized reporting and adapted power-management integrations across Lampson’s fleet — about 150 cranes to date with plans for full deployment and expansion to service trucks. The system delivered real-time location and usage data that streamlined logistics, improved billing accuracy by eliminating routine customer calls for operator logs, prevented data loss in remote rentals, and enabled alarms and monitoring that can avert costly failures (e.g., a potential $60,000 transmission repair).
