A Verizon Connect Case Study
The City of San Jose, responsible for a 2,750‑vehicle fleet serving 250 city facilities, needed a software platform to improve dispatching, quickly locate available vehicles, and track maintenance while integrating with existing systems. To meet those challenges the city deployed Verizon Connect’s fleet management solution to centralize vehicle location, telematics and maintenance data.
Verizon Connect implemented live vehicle tracking, trouble‑code alerts, maintenance scheduling and driver‑behavior monitoring across the fleet, enabling faster response times to resident calls, quicker vehicle assignment (officers can now see available cars on‑screen) and better maintenance planning. The platform freed staff from manual processes, cut expenses by digitizing workflows and monitoring fuel/idle use, improved safety through driver behavior insights, and helped San Jose move closer to its smart‑city goals.
