Case Study: City of Tampa achieves safer Super Bowl communications with Verizon Business public safety solutions

A Verizon Business Case Study

Preview of the City of Tampa Case Study

How Tampa PD won the Super Bowl with public safety solutions

The City of Tampa faced an unprecedented public safety challenge while hosting Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium, with more than 70 federal, state, and local agencies needing to communicate clearly alongside the NFL, fans, cameras, and stadium systems. Verizon Business helped support the effort with public safety connectivity built on 4G LTE and 5G.

Verizon Business installed more than $80 million in infrastructure upgrades, including 70 miles of high-speed fiber and 600 small cell nodes, and expanded 5G Ultra Wideband coverage around key areas such as Raymond James Stadium, Tampa International Airport, and Sparkman Wharf. The result was reliable communications for Tampa PD and partner agencies during the event, plus permanent network improvements that continue to benefit the city and visitors.
