Georgia DoE helps up to 12.5M students shift to remote learning

Georgia Department of Education worked with Verizon Business as schools across 11 states prepared for the 2020–21 academic year and needed a fast way to enable remote learning. The challenge was to help close the digital divide so students without home broadband could still participate in distance education.

Verizon Business implemented the Georgia Sponsor State Distance Learning Initiative, providing discounted service plans, unlimited 4G LTE internet access, mobile device management, and CIPA-compliant applications, along with 4G LTE connectivity devices for students who needed them. The program supported up to 12.5 million students across 11 states, and once inventory was confirmed, Verizon delivered devices in three to five days, helping schools switch between in-class and remote learning as needed.
