A Verizon Business Case Study

Preview of the Fort Wayne Community Schools Case Study

Fort Wayne delivers remote learning during a pandemic in record time

Fort Wayne Community Schools, the largest school district in Indiana, faced a sudden shift to remote learning during the pandemic and needed to solve a major connectivity gap for thousands of students. Although the district had nearly completed its one-to-one device program, it found that many students still lacked reliable internet access at home, especially as families moved or parents returned to work. Verizon Business helped address this challenge with Verizon MiFi 8800L mobile hotspots and mobile device management support.

Verizon Business worked with FWCS to rapidly preconfigure, secure, and distribute about 7,500 MiFi hotspots, enabling qualifying students to connect from home and even from locations across the United States. The district had only two weeks to prepare for the school year, and Verizon Business helped track shipments, resolve issues quickly, and support deployment at scale. The result was dependable connectivity for students who otherwise would have been left offline, helping FWCS deliver remote instruction despite the pandemic.
