A Veritas Technologies Case Study
Yapı Kredi, the third-largest private bank in Turkey, was managing about 9 PB of data and faced strict regulatory retention requirements of 1–20 years. Its tape-based long-term retention system was inefficient, energy- and space-intensive, prone to physical degradation, and increasingly time-consuming to manage—creating operational strain and exposing the bank to compliance risk.
The bank replaced tapes with a pair of Veritas Access Appliances (integrated with Veritas NetBackup and Enterprise Vault) and automated replication to a disaster-recovery site, migrating secondary backups to disk. The move sped up restores, delivered 100% recovery success, cut staff time and tape-storage needs, reduced power consumption by ~20%, and all but eliminated long-term retention compliance risk.
