Veritas joins forces with Datacentrix to protect The MultiChoice Group’s business-critical systems against ransomware

The MultiChoice Group, a large Pan‑African broadcaster serving over 21 million subscribers, faced failing and cumbersome backups from a legacy data‑protection solution that put critical systems (content delivery, billing) at risk of prolonged outages and ransomware. Seeking uninterrupted availability, MultiChoice ran an RFP and partnered with Datacentrix to evaluate vendors and redesign its backup strategy.

Datacentrix implemented a consolidated Veritas solution: NetBackup with Flex Appliances on‑prem, Veritas Alta for Azure and AWS workloads, and Veritas Access for long‑term storage, all managed through a single pane with NetBackup IT Analytics for monitoring and anomaly detection. The result: protection of twice as many systems (≈800 to 1,600) and growth from 420 TB to 700 TB without increasing the backup window, 75% less daily management time (from 2 hours to ~30 minutes), 100% restore success, reduced infrastructure and costs, and stronger confidence in ransomware recovery.
