UBI Sistemi e Servizi, the IT arm supporting the UBI Banca Group across Italy, runs data centers in Bergamo and Brescia and manages more than 1,800 branches, 3,000+ virtual machines and hundreds of physical servers on multiple platforms. The team needed to improve application availability during business hours while ensuring reliable, timely backups and data protection across a heterogeneous environment.

They upgraded to Veritas NetBackup 8 with NetBackup Appliances and Enterprise Vault, and implemented source deduplication, NetBackup Accelerator and AIR replication to shrink backup windows, reduce WAN traffic and archive historic data. As a result all backups now complete overnight, protected systems remain available during operating hours, bandwidth use is more efficient, operations are simplified with a unified infrastructure and skills, and total cost of ownership is reduced.
