Romanian Bank taps Veritas NetBackup to lower risk and improve performance

Bank Leumi Romania, a Bucharest-based subsidiary of Israel’s oldest bank, runs more than 250 VMware virtual machines and backs up over 25 TB weekly across two active-active data centers and a DR site. The bank needed faster, more efficient backups, better automation and VM discovery, and a more reliable clustering and disaster recovery platform to ensure business continuity and eliminate the risk of customer data loss.

Leumi Romania deployed Veritas NetBackup together with Veritas InfoScale and Veritas Resiliency Platform to automate VM discovery and multi-copy backups, enable high-speed SAN transport and deduplication, and orchestrate failover and replication. The integrated solution reduced data transferred by 60–80%, cut full data-center recovery time by 81% (from ~4 hours to 45 minutes), achieved 100% successful DR tests and restores, and simplified operations so backups can be handled with minimal staff time.
