A Veritas Technologies Case Study
Ritsumeikan University, a multi-campus academic group in Japan serving tens of thousands of students and staff, needed to simplify backup across distributed sites that included mixed physical and virtual servers. Growing data volumes, varied retention needs, increasing operational tasks, and rising costs—especially for agents, licenses and tape operations—made it difficult to maintain reliable, scalable backups and disaster recovery.
The university deployed Veritas NetBackup Appliances to provide a single, preconfigured solution that manages physical and virtual backups, offers agentless auto-detection, capacity-based licensing, deduplication and Auto Image Replication between sites. The result was significantly lower administration time, costs and complexity, faster deployments, reduced licensing and tape overhead, improved disaster recovery, and freed IT time for strategic projects.
