Protecting the global leader in cloud services and world’s largest provider of hosted Microsoft Exchange using Veritas Solutions

Intermedia, the world’s largest provider of hosted Microsoft Exchange, needed to offer Microsoft Exchange 2010 as a cloud service on day one but discovered its existing data protection solution wouldn’t be ready. To avoid risking customer data and to stay first to market, Intermedia sought a scalable, reliable backup platform that could support rapid mailbox growth across multiple data centers.

Intermedia adopted Veritas NetBackup (starting with the Exchange 2010 beta) and standardized on it across seven data centers, protecting roughly 3,000 Exchange databases and four petabytes of data. With NetBackup, NetBackup OpsCenter and Veritas Business Critical Services, Intermedia achieved ~99% backup and recovery success, simplified administration and faster support—helping new mailbox sales rise 40% and premium mailboxes grow from 300,000 to 400,000 in ten months.
