A Veritas Technologies Case Study
Munich Re is a global insurance and reinsurance group with around 45,000 employees and operations across all continents, generating €3.211 billion profit in 2012 on roughly €52 billion of contributions (about €28.2 billion from reinsurance). The company faced increasingly tight backup windows and a legacy backup/restore solution that had reached its limits, so it needed a high-performance, stable, sustainable and scalable environment.
Fujitsu implemented an end-to-end backup solution based on Veritas NetBackup, high-end ETERNUS CS storage and PRIMERGY servers, including infrastructure delivery, implementation and operational support (software value ~€900K). The new environment was moved into production within existing processes without disrupting operations, met the backup window requirements and delivered improved performance, data security and integrity.
