Case Study: Cyprus Trading Corporation Plc achieves minimized ransomware risk and cuts backup staff time to under 1 hour/day with Veritas Technologies

A Veritas Technologies Case Study

Preview of the Cyprus Trading Corporation Plc Case Study

Minimizing Ransomware Risk for a Highly Diverse IT Infrastructure

Cyprus Trading Corporation Plc (CTC), a diversified retail and services group of about 2,000 employees, faced a fragmented backup environment—five separate data protection solutions plus offsite tape handling—that demanded nearly a full FTE daily, slowed backups and restores, raised GDPR/compliance concerns, and left the company exposed to ransomware and potential multi-day data loss.

CTC consolidated on-premises NetBackup Appliances and NetBackup VMs in two Azure regions, using NetBackup Auto Image Replication and Veritas Resiliency Platform to orchestrate replication and failover, with CloudPoint providing Azure-native snapshots. The new architecture cut daily management to under an hour, eliminated nearly the prior FTE, accelerated backups and restores (database backups now run in about one-third the previous time), reduced Azure storage costs by 25%, enabled long-term (up to 12-year) retention, and restored organizational confidence in ransomware recovery and compliance.
