A Veritas Technologies Case Study
A $3.6 billion global leader in flour and grain products faced an aggressive six‑month SAP HANA migration and needed a scalable, low‑cost data protection strategy that supported new HANA appliances (SUSE Linux) while still handling existing Windows workloads, eliminated recurring tape problems, and allowed a small IT team to meet tight deadlines and future growth needs.
A Veritas partner installed NetBackup on HPE servers, configured storage lifecycle policies to automate daily/weekly disk backups with weekly tape outputs, integrated NetBackup into HANA Studio so DBAs can launch restores, and deployed optimization and tape‑vaulting features to cut storage footprint and automate tape handling. The result: most backups moved to disk, tape issues were eliminated, backups are managed with about 1.5 FTEs, the SAP HANA protection was deployed in six months, and the company now has a scalable, synchronized cross‑site backup strategy for future expansion.
