IT services provider optimizes backup in HCIbased virtual environment with integrated JP1 and Veritas NetBackup

INTEC, an ICT solutions provider based in Toyama, Japan, needed to modernize backup for its remote-monitoring service that runs about 300 virtual machines. The legacy, script- and NAS-based approach created heavy operational overhead, slow and unreliable restores, and difficulties managing capacity and specialist hardware as the company moved to a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI).

INTEC deployed a Hitachi HA8000V Backup Appliance with JP1/VERITAS NetBackup integrated into the HCI environment, enabling daily, multi-generation backups with deduplication and parallel jobs. The change cut operational workload, reduced backup windows to ~2–3 minutes per VM and restore time to about five minutes, removed the need for agents, improved disaster readiness, and materially raised service quality.
