Criminal Intelligence Dept. - Customer Case Study

The customer is a German Criminal Intelligence Department—one of 16 independent law‑enforcement agencies—specialising in major offences with over 1,600 staff and strong links to federal bodies and EUROPOL. They needed to migrate to a new version of Microsoft Exchange but faced large mailstore volumes and a requirement to consolidate data and regain access to previously deleted emails.

Fujitsu and Veritas deployed Veritas Enterprise Vault for Microsoft Exchange on Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers with ETERNUS storage (solution value ~€2m), which reduced mailbox sizes and simplified and accelerated the Exchange migration. The project delivered a scalable enterprise archive spanning Exchange, file servers and SharePoint, automated PST discovery and migration, and improved compliance and e‑discovery while cutting storage costs, backup windows and risks from lost files.
