Case Study: Mizkan Group achieves cyber resilience and 3-2-1 backup protection with Veritas Technologies

A Veritas Technologies Case Study

Preview of the Mizkan Group Case Study

Creating a Single-Vendor Backup Environment Aligned with the 3-2-1 Rule

The Mizkan Group, a global food manufacturer known for seasonings and products like ZENB, needed to strengthen its data protection and achieve cyber resilience amid rising ransomware threats. Its VMware environment relied largely on storage snapshots rather than full VM image backups, creating recovery risks; the company therefore set out to implement a 3-2-1 backup strategy with isolated cloud copies and stronger tamper protection.

Mizkan deployed Veritas NetBackup Flex Appliance (with WORM tamper-proof storage) and Veritas Alta Recovery Vault for encrypted, deduplicated cloud retention and seamless replication. The new setup provides robust 3-2-1 compliance, high deduplication (4 TB of VM data using about 2 TB on a 36 TB appliance), daily backups with multiple generations (currently ~10, planning 30), more restore options, faster recovery, simplified operations via an intuitive dashboard, and strong vendor support.
