BORICA AD, a long-standing backbone of Bulgaria’s payment industry, needed to replace its legacy backup system to protect critical payment, signature and invoicing data, consolidate backups across systems, retire tape while preserving recoverability, improve recovery times, and optimize WAN use between primary and backup datacenters—all while supporting a VMware-centric environment.

BORICA deployed Veritas NetBackup Appliance 5240 with NetBackup 8, giving synchronous hardware-level replication, SAN-based backups with strong deduplication, and agentless granular VMware recovery. The rollout delivered nearly 1:4 deduplication, backups at least four times faster than before, retirement of tape libraries, simpler maintenance, and achievement of required RPOs and RTOs.
