Case Study: China Minsheng Bank achieves unified, automated data protection and 99.42% backup success with Veritas Technologies

A Veritas Technologies Case Study

Preview of the China Minsheng Bank Case Study

Bank’s diverse portfolio of data assets demands unified, automated protection

China Minsheng Bank, one of China’s largest joint‑stock commercial banks with assets exceeding RMB5.9 trillion and nearly 3,000 branches, launched a broad digital transformation that dramatically increased structured and unstructured data volumes. Facing strict banking regulations, distributed data across multiple centers, and the need for high backup success rates and simplified cross‑environment management, the bank required a unified, automated data protection platform that could scale, ensure compliance and minimize operational complexity.

Minsheng deployed Veritas NetBackup software, appliances, OpsCenter and related services to build a unified data protection platform across two cities and three data centers. The solution provides deduplication, disk‑based backups, narrow‑band remote replication, unified monitoring and customizable reporting for diverse workloads (databases, VMs, cloud and big data). Results include coverage of dozens of petabytes across six primary backup domains, local/remote replication for dozens of critical systems, a 99.42% backup success rate and organization‑wide recovery validation to meet regulatory and business continuity requirements.
