A Veritas Technologies Case Study
Skagit Habitat for Humanity’s 20,000-square-foot store in Skagit County, WA, supports the chapter’s mission by funding homebuilding for low-income families. The store shared a server with the Habitat chapter that held accounting, donor and customer records, homeowner applications and loan documents—data whose loss would be catastrophic. Their legacy backup process used removable hard drives that frequently filled up, required daily swapping, wasted staff time and left backups vulnerable to local disasters.
Working with TechSoup, Skagit deployed Veritas Backup Exec with cloud storage to protect all server data. The cloud-based solution eliminated manual drive swaps and drive-replacement costs, runs weekly full and daily incremental backups without impacting server performance, and keeps data available and safe in the event of hardware failure or disaster—freeing staff to focus on the organization’s mission.
