A Veritas Technologies Case Study
China Everbright Bank, a top-100 global bank with CN¥2.28 trillion in assets and more than 32,000 employees, needed to maximize uptime for 160 critical clustered servers and streamline data protection as data grew about 30% annually. The IT team was managing clusters manually across multiple platforms (AIX, HP‑UX, SUSE Linux, Windows) and faced frequent planned and unplanned downtime risks that could cost millions per hour in revenue exposure.
The bank deployed Veritas Cluster Server (with Global Cluster Option) and Veritas NetBackup (including deduplication, Auto Image Replication, and NetBackup appliances) to centralize and automate cluster management and backups across three data centers. Results included zero unplanned downtime in four years, a 7x faster RTO (from 15 to 2 minutes), 2–4x faster backups, 99.999% availability for 95% of systems, 100% backup/recovery success, 50% less weekly cluster admin time, and elimination of hundreds of annual planned-downtime hours.
